Painfully Awkward, Charmingly Off-Beat From the Desk of Lex Heh there. I'm Lex. I'm one of the admins. I've been role playing for about... Six? Seven years? I'm Christian girl of a pretty conservative upbringing. I grew up on bluegrass and folk, though my tastes expanded to include metal, punk and hardcore once I started exploring. I'd like to live in Boston eventually. I like writing, drawing, basket-ball, soccer, English Breakfast tea, open mic night, screen-printing, mosh-pits, tattoos and late-night Denny's-runs.
I work in the graphics department at a local digital copy center. Between assignments, I mostly sit at my desk and draw stuff or watch videos about 70's metal bands with my boss and my only co-worker. It's a kick-ass job. Before work I usually am at the school where I learned screen printing. I'm not a student any more; I just volunteer and help when I can. I sometimes do some sweet t-shirt designs.
Basically, I love this site, I love the people on it, and if you ever need anything, you should feel free to ask me about it.

Painfully Awkward, Charmingly Off-Beat From the Desk of Lex SO!
This is my position on playbys; they're a pain in the butt. I have logged probably a week's worth of hours looking for the perfect playby for my boy, David, but the facts of the matter are that I'm too picky. I started using David before I'd even heard of Playbys, so the picture of him in my head is difficult to satisfy. The ones I have for Crimm, Jon and Jimmy are perfect in my mind's eye, but Dave will probably never be settled. **shakes head**
On a more positive note, we have many wonderful new people on the site. I'm so stoked to see them here. I hope we meet in character very soon.

Painfully Awkward, Charmingly Off-Beat From the Desk of Lex So, for anyone who was a part of the madness, I found out who this guy is,. It's actually pretty sad. His name was Gabriel Joshua Wolrab and he was a homeless boy that a photographer took a picture of while he was walking through the streets of Portland, Oregon. He was contacted some time after taking the picture by a girl who recognized him. She said he never made it through the year the picture was taken. He took his own life while he was at the home of his family, I believe.
Sad business.

Painfully Awkward, Charmingly Off-Beat From the Desk of Lex SUMFIN' I noticed today while I was creeping picture of men I admire. I realized that there are three Ryans that I think are pretty spiffy, and they're ALL tattooed, manly and bearded.
From left to right:
Ryan Clark: Co-founder of Demon Hunter and Co-Founder of Invisible creature. A large figure in my life as a graphic designer and as a music-lover. I've had the pleasure of meeting Ryan once and also seeing him perform once and I really dig him. I actually named my character, Jon Clark, as a bit of a nod to Ryan and his brother, Don.
Ryan Hurst: The larger-than-life actor behind my favorite personality on Sons of Anarchy. Ryan was in the running for Jon's playby. I had two visions for Jon, and the earliest versions of him had him closer to Ryan's age, huge and slightly insane, but on the quiet side. The only thing that really barred me from using Ryan on this site was that usable pics of him are harder to come by, and he's 35, where Jon's in his early twenties.
Ryan Dunn: Mostly recognized as the right-hand man of Bam Margera. I realized after listening to some Radio Bam that Dunn was a man I wouldn't mind keeping an eye on. He's another playby I'd considered for Jon, truth be told. I realized I loved Dunn in particular when I saw Jackass 3D and realized what a freaking moose he was, size-wise.

Painfully Awkward, Charmingly Off-Beat From the Desk of Lex A quickie set of sketches I did tonight of Dave and Jayde. I mangled his face pretty well, but these are strictly sharpie pieces, so once I put a line down, it stays there.
This is a quick preview before I hop off to bed. I'll scan them tomorrow at the school and bring 'em back later. <3<3

Painfully Awkward, Charmingly Off-Beat From the Desk of Lex It is better to have one true companion than a thousand aquaintences. As David was to Jonathan, so we should sacrifice to find that rarest of comrades. – Andrew Schwab
I found this quote from the writings of a guy I LOVE, and it reminded me of the first time I realized that the best-friend dynamic between Dave and Jon is pretty cool, because King David of the bible was best friends with Jonathan, son of Saul.
Anyway. As you were.

Painfully Awkward, Charmingly Off-Beat From the Desk of Lex This is a quick color job of a pic I was doing of Dave and Jayde's characters. Completely disregarded their playbys. Dave's crazy-warped, but I didn't use pencils, just sharpies, so basically what I put on the paper is what I had to live with.

Painfully Awkward, Charmingly Off-Beat From the Desk of Lex Alright. Cutest picture in the world. Adonis is pure beauty as a man and Oliver is adorable as a temporary boy-friend, but I still sort of wish that there were some plot that involved Crimmy and a Marcus Mumford playby. The pics of these two that exist are just the best ever.
